Abstract

This paper proposes a discovery tool for color gradients and palettes based on a mathematical framework. A family of parametric curves in space is proposed for the composition of color gradients and palettes. Hyper-parameters for the periodicity, amplitude and shape of the 3D parametric curves are considered and given to the user for experimentation and discovery. The user can define the trajectories through the HSL color solid to discover appealing gradients, select an interval of interest and sample it to produce a palette.
